the official IGNOU rules and what you can actually do.
❌ IGNOU does NOT allow assignment re-check or re-evaluation.
✅ Re-evaluation is allowed ONLY for Term-End Exams (TEE).
Is IGNOU Assignment Re-check or Re-evaluation Allowed?
No. As per official IGNOU academic rules, assignment re-check,
re-totaling, or re-evaluation is not permitted for any programme.
❌ Assignment re-evaluation not allowed
❌ Re-totaling of assignment marks not allowed
✅ Re-evaluation allowed only for TEE
This rule applies to all programmes including

Why Does IGNOU Not Allow Assignment Re-evaluation?
IGNOU assignments are evaluated at the study centre level as part of
continuous internal assessment. Due to this decentralized system,
IGNOU does not provide a formal re-check or re-evaluation facility
for assignments.
What Can Students Do If Assignment Marks Are Wrong?
Step 1: Check Assignment Status Carefully
Many times marks are evaluated but not updated on the portal.
If status shows Received or Under Process, wait for updates.
Step 2: Contact Your Study Centre
Visit or contact your study centre with assignment submission receipt.
Errors often get resolved at centre level.
Step 3: Contact Regional Centre
If study centre does not respond, submit a written request to your
Regional Centre.
Step 4: File an RTI (Right to Information)
RTI is the most effective option when marks are delayed or missing for long.
You can ask:
- Whether the assignment was evaluated
- Date of evaluation
- Marks awarded
